Do you have students who are future entrepreneurs?

The Teen Entrepreneur Summer Academy (TESA) at the Richard M. and Helen DeVos Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Seidman College of Business, is an interactive camp that teaches teens how to launch a business. The curriculum is based on the Career Path-ways Program and National Entrepreneurship Education Standards. Academy participants will be exposed to the importance of networking, target market research and idea generation during the business development process.
A combination of brainstorming activities, teambuilding lessons and a eld trip to an entrepreneurial business will supplement each student’s creative problem solving task. The final day will conclude with a business pitch competition in which each team will
compete for a total of $5,000 in cash prizes.

Are you pursuing construction as a major in college?

Scholarship applications for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Chapter #194 are now being accepted until April 30, 2016. One scholarship is awarded annually to a student that is currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a construction related field of study and have a 3.00 or better grade point average. The scholarship automatically renews for 4 years as long as the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements.

NAWIC’s core purpose is to enhance the success of women in the construction industry through leadership development, professional education, and community outreach.

Do you know an 18-25 year-old who would be interested in learning entry-level construction skills for immediate employment in our industry? The Construction Workforce Development Alliance (CWDA) is currently accepting scholarship applications for the third annual Jump Start program held at the GRCC MTEC (622 Godfrey Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503).

SUMMER JUMP START PROGRAM
* Learn the basics of the construction industry
* Prepare for an entry-level construction position
* Receive 10-hour OSHA safety training
* Earn equipment operator certification
* Guaranteed interviews with local construction employers!

Construction Summer Camps – Sign up today!

6th – 8th grade students will explore the exciting construction industry through two summer camp opportunities. They will get hands-on experience working in different construction crafts – such as carpentry, concrete, masonry, and ironwork. Students will take a field trip to at least one construction site during the camp and will leave with a hand crafted product they make during the camp.

Learn to code @ Bitcamp!

Did you know that professions in Information Technology are among the fastest growing segment? As technology influences more and more of how we live the ability to read, write and build things with code becomes increasingly important.

Bitcamp was created by a group called SoftwareGR who teams up with local employers to host FEMALE students for a day of hands on learning around code. There are two dates coming up in April and May where girls can learn from female mentors who want to see their professions expand. Visit this site to learn more and register!
